A few days ago my little sister decided to make a playmobile Christmas scene, so I decided that I would make a Katrina Christmas scene. In it there is a road blocked off by a debris removal crew. There are also the fire department, the EPA, and search and rescue teams with dogs.
On the road there are trees, bits of fruniture, and even an overturned car. Theres not alot of stuff to do with Christmas but it was just kind of for my own enjoyment.
There is also a scene of our friend who we stayed with for seven weeks. There is a figure of "Uncle Chris" carrying his favoret shotgun, and a cellphone around his house. There are tables, chairs, a grill, LOTS of radios, and even a controled fire in an old trashcan.
Well thats all for now. Happy Holidays!!!

Some hope for homeowners
DearNoah, Thank you for sharing your CHRISTMAS SCENE. As unusual as it sounds it is your reality. You did a great job of describing your surroundings, and I think it is important that we who are not there, understand what it is truly like. I hope you read this because I will try to describe my Christmas scene. We are in a small campground in our motorhome next to the Gulf. My friends gave me conch shell and I learned how to blow it at sunset. They have been doing that for Twenty years. My husband and I put Christmas lights on our awning and made wreaths out of some small pine cones that fall off the Austrailian Pine trees. I made a larger wreath and hung it from the motor home mirror. They fish here most days and catch whiting, sheepshead, pompano, and blues. When they get quite a few someone cooks them up and we share. There are about 10-12 campers here now. It's chilly but not too bad. I like to fish with small tackle. I use what they call an ugly stick rod and a number 6 hook. I use frozen shrimp or sandfleas which I catch at the shore line. I collect sea glass and write poetry. We have kids and grandkids and will drive to visit them for Christmas. I hope you enjoyed my Christmas scene. Theresa Happy Holidays

it's what you see....some day may be considered art...but hopefully in a long time ...cause now it's sad

Noah,I found your christmas scene, even tho real, still sad. I've not been through a hurricane, but I have lost everything I owned, twice, but thats a long story. I have found that a small escape from reality ever now and then helped. To forget just for awhile of what was going on around me. I do not know what resources you have, but a book to read, a movie on TV, draw or start a journal, write short stories about adventures. Anything that will take you away for a short period of time. I watched every single day before and after Katrina, my heart and prayers are with all of you. I have family in Biloxi that survived the storm, not a day goes by that I do not think of them, and everyone else. At the time of Katrina I lived in the Houston area. So I very aware of what took place. We had to evac. ourselves. Try to have a Happy Holiday, you are not alone.

Dear Noah,
Hang in there honey. Things will get better. If you find a bible anywhere read Revelations 21:3-5. It will show you the promise God makes us for a brighter future. And you can be sure that he will come through.

Noah - what a great way to use your creative abilities to make sense and scene out of what you've been through. I think it was a delightful idea! One day you might find it again (when you're an adult) and go "hmmm" about what you were thinking when you made it. Thanks for telling us about it, and Merry Christmas to you!

The concept of everything wiped out is beyond my comprehension. We had fires in Southern California BUT there were so many that were not effected so we could help fellow artists. The small amount I have sent I hope will help.

Dear Noah, We want to wish you and your family a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Best of luck to you and your family in the new year, Noah. I am encouraged to read about, and see first hand, how families and individuals are expressing and assimilating their experiences. You and your family have not only survived a harrowing experience, but it's clear you are growing from it. Think of it this way; given your ordeal, you can now conquer anything life can throw at you. The strength you have gained will serve you well throughout the rest of your life. Strength you can call upon to overcome every challenge presented to you. Strength you can use to help others in need. My best wishes.
