when people come togather...good things...are just gonna happen..no dought about it

I'll tell you now, the churches have done more for the people after Katrina that anyone else. It's amazing how many church groups throughout the country have sent donations or volunteers down here. And the churches on the Coast are doing a wonderful service for the people, a lot of times with few resources. Truly God is with these people.

Its spirit lifting to hear, and see people not giving up at a time when it all seemed hopeless, It just proves that people are stronger together, and weaker apart..God Bless all.

God bless everyone...no exceptions!

What a wonderful story! It truly proves that the church is still alive and well.

thank you New Orleans for inspiring the rest of us.

cpathP I am glad you are inspired. It's wonderful. But this web page and this story is about Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. About 45 min. to an hour away from New Orleans...New Orleans has gotten a lot of media attention, but this area is where the hurricane hit with gusto. Mississippi is truly an inspirational and a faith filled place...if a somewhat invisible one... for some reason.

Thank you MSNBC!

We so much need to SEE these - types of pictures and video feeds - on the front page of every newpaper and online news site on the net...

Black - White - Male and Female holding together in faith and "love for one another" as we share how we can help to move the country forward in a more positive direction for our children.

"ASK Not What Your Country Can Do for You -
ASK What WE Can Do For OUR COUNTRY!"

"For the People - By the People"

"A Strong America is an Ethical America!"

AS these words could not ever be more TRUE BLUE American - in Our Nation's History - than they are Today!

cpcath,...this ain't New Orleans.....dis is MISSISSIPPI...we inspire ourselves...thank you

Thank you MSNBC for staying focus on the destruction cause by Hurricane Katrina. This diaster has show us that we can not depend on our government for help, only God and each other!!! The sound of your voice speaks loudly in your written word. It reveals the compassion and strength of the community. I just want everyone in the Mississippi and Lousiana area to know that we in Memphis, TN are keeping all of you in our prayers and thinking about you all each and every day.

Please get out your maps and you will find that MISSISSIPPI is east of New Orleans. By interstate that is about an hour's drive if you don't drive real slow. I love the Mississippi Gulf Coast and I love New Orleans but they are TWO DIFFERENT places. A friend sent me a link to a site (animalrescuefront.net) that I think all people who have respect for animals and the fact that God put them on this earth also should definately check out. Just go to the WAVELAND connection at top of page, send message to the mayors of both Waveland and Bay St. Louis, this would at least be a starting point in turning this horrible thing around. You might also contact Friends of the Animal Shelter in Hancock County, POB 2274, Bay St. Louis, MS 39521

It's so wonderful to see Christians reaching out to those who have been battered by these hurricanes. God will bless you for your selfless sacrifice.

Jesus identified Himself with the poor and afflicted. Like He said, "What you do for the least of these you do for me." These people have lost a lot and the church seems like to be active and doing its job.

Keep faith in Christ

I spent a week in BSL and Waveland in late January with a group of guys from my church. We took vacation and it was such an honor to be able to serve God and my fellow Americans. Our church in Overland Park, KS is sending a team down almost every week. Most of our operations are being run out of the Main St. United Methodist Church in Bay St. Louis. When you see groups that have set up camp from around the country it is evident that God is present. It does not appear that the calvary (Fed Govt.) is going to come riding over the hill. It is up to us as Americans to step up and help. I can't wait to get back down there and serve.

God surely blesses every one of you who has helped those of us here in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. We can never thank you enough, and I believe we repay you by helping others in our path. God Bless.

My extended church family is once again in MS working on rebuilding some of our shattered infrastructure and those in its community affected. I would have gone except that I have animal obligations and haven't had a job in many months. There are always going to be a few "church people" who make us taste bile (the anti-war protestors from Kentucky come to mind first) but by and large, I'm grateful to say that Christians do represent Christ - and He attended to everyone's needs: friend or foe, rulers and the degenerates of society. God bless Mississippi!

being called poor i can live with....but afflicted? ....i find that offensive....Richard

I am so happy to see you all back in your church, enjoying it's beauty and each other. Bless you all. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am a Lions Club Member and have been helping load a semi-trailer for shipment down to Honduras. We have a very large warehouse with many items such as desks, chairs, bookcases, tables, lounging chairs, school desks and chairs, many hospital items such as beds, etc. We would like to send some of these to the Katrina area if needed. We will no doubt have the semi-trailer that could be used but may need some help paying the driver and with the expense of gasoline getting down from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Is there any needs remaining in the Katrina area? We would like to help if so. Lion Dick Beam, Foster Park Lions Club.
