While my dad, mom, two sisters and I were at Zulu (a traditional Mardi Gras parade) we all got hungry.

Across the street was a Popeye's chicken and biscuit house. The line was all the way out the door! The place was packed to the brim with people. You hade to get in line get your receipt and about an hour later they would call your number on the receipt.

We were number 12. When we got there, they were still on fifty-six. There were no chairs and no room. It was pointless to order the two-piece chicken. After we finally got our food, an hour and a half later, we made it back to where we were sitting just in time for the parade to start.

The major rode by on a horse along with some people from the National Guard and some policemen. One of the horses that was in Rex (the parade that follows Zulu) decided that right in front of where we were was a nice spot to, um, "drop a load." So for the rest of Rex, we had to scrunch up our noses as not to barf.

All in all it was an eventful Mardi Gras

Wow...thanks for this update Noah! I love Zulu and never had a chance to see them march. I guess the restaurants are all gonna be like that during Mardi Gras. I hope the chicken was worth waiting for ;-)

Sounds like the parade had fun! thanks for the story, Noah. That horse who left you a present reminds me a wedding I attended in nothern Vermont a few years ago when a family friend got married. She and her husband drove off in a horse and carriage, and the horse wasn't going anywhere until he...well, you know! Right in the middle of the town square pavement! At least you have a "nice" memory for this Mardi Gras!

Really I can't remember going to a parade....where horses were involved....and there wasn't....poop left

hey Stephanie.....goto the Peaybody in Memphis....carrige rides...at the front door....poop....all over Memphis' streets....if you've never been to the Peabody.....watch out for da duck poop also!!!!....check it out

Hey Noah. I'm a 22 year old secretary in Kentucky. I've been patiently awaiting a new entry from you, and want to say this... after everything you've been through, it makes me smile to know that you could find some humor and good time in this Mardi Gras parade, even though it might have been a tad bit "stinky." Always keep that... optimism and desire to find the good in everything. That will get you further than anything.
