This past weekend I went to the Youth Legislature, which is sponsored by the YMCA.
It is a really fun program sponsored by the school. You get to write a bill and try to get it passed into law. Mine did not pass but I won "most outstanding senator."
There were a lot of bills written to help the residents affected by Katrina. I don't remember if any of them got passed, but they were all really good bills.
I think I stood up and talked on all of them but there were a lot so I don't remember. I had such a good time and I will definitely do this again next year.

Irritation and Inspiration
I hope someday you will be a senator...life will be better{if you don't become ...as some are now}...make Mississippi a better place....for my grandchildren....and I think YOU can!

Wow Hannah - that does sound like a great time. I know I would have enjoyed such an assignment. Thanks for the post. (The best legislators are those who can be empathize with their constituants and remember what its like to be "in their shoes". If you can do that, you'll be a wonderful legislator one day!)
How are you and your family doing?

Hannah, remember this experience and know that you can make a difference. Whether you know it or not, just being able to share with others what you are going through is a tremendous help. Keep it up.

In late July we took our vacation, and strangely we went west because of a Hurricane in the Alabama/Florida area. We spent our vacation in Bay St. Louis, MS - camping. A month later my girls watch as the hurricane came in an I told them that I felt by watching the weather that it was hitting Bay St. Louis headon and it appears that it did. The reason I am telling you ths is because I am a mayor of a small town in Alabama, and I hope to be a county commissioner soon in one of the largest counties in Alabama. Always be true to your community and love the people you represent. Always treat them as though they were your family and not just a name on a voter list. We enjoyed our vacation and truly are heartbroken over the fact that everything my girls saw and did has been changed forever. They truly will never forget and we pray for all of you every night. We do love all of you and hope things will get back to a new more improved kind of normal.

Ann, why don't you run for president or congress? If we had more people like you in government who are truly concerned about the people, and not just the bottom line, wouldn't it be nice? I'm sure you will be a good county commissioner. And Hannah, you might just do the same thing one day. Aim high.
